The line in the movie that screen-cap is from goes something like:

"Welllll, some say that the name Hoegaarden comes from the town in Belgium where it was created... but really, it was named after that guy's mom."

"ZING."

what movie is that from?

The Adventures of Jay and Big Russ. I'm in it delivering a brief interjection about Hoegaarden, so you have some kind of idea of how world-renowned it is. I won't begrudge you if you aren't familiar with the lines. tongue

(I just finally got to see the finished version of said movie, and I continue to be amused as all hell by it and bring it up every fucking minute. It's really quite annoying.)

Another vote here for Chimay Red.
The blue label goes better with cheeses though.

Guiness. Everybody likes that stuff.

ooh, not everybody I'm afraid. I'm a bit stout fan and I always have to hear whining from the Corona crew about how heavy it is. I'd recommend trying it though, and....well.....personally I prefer Murphy's Irish Stout. blush
Other than that, I rather like this beer called Fat Weasel. Yes, it's real, and depending on whether there's a Trader Joe's by you it's possible to get a 6 pack for less than 5 bucks! Also, I really like Sapporo Ichiban, although some of my friends prefer Asahi because it's a bit smoother.
Hope that helps a bit. Happy sampling!

Magic Hat #9 got me started liking ales. It's light, a little crisp, and a little sweet; perfect for a first timer. Definitely stay away from domestic crap (Bud, Coors, etc.) if you're looking for enjoyment. I can only drink that shit if we're playing beer pong or some other drinking game.
