yes, he's still doing movies.
he's done a couple in the past 5 years. slow pace maybe, but you knwo he likes to craft his stuff well, and shooting in italy is always difficult too!
i quite enjoyed "non ho sonno", while his latest one, "il cartaio", was so-so.
do some googling about him,and you'll find out what he's up to.
The last two films he has made after "Sleepless" in 2001 are "The Card Player" (2004) and "Do You Like Hitchcock?" (2005) Isnt that a bizarre title for an argento film? Anyway when I saw this thread I thought you were asking that question because you'd seen these movies, when you see them you'll know why.
"Do You Like Hitchcock?" was a made for TV film but I got to see it at the horror festival this year. Apparently he's doing a few of these television films in order to make money for the final film in the three mothers trilogy, I just hope that it will be better than these last two. I absolutely love all of the films up until now though.
blck_flwrsplease - the film you are thinking of is probably Scarlet Diva.
ah yes, asia argento - what was the name of that movie I wanted to see with her in it? (I dont want to have to dig through my stack of high society to find it.....)

To this day "Suspiria" still scares the shit out of me..the soundtrack alone makes me nervous
Yeah I remember the first time I saw that I was so amazed by the soundtrack cause I hadnt heard anything like it before. Its by Claudio Simonetti and Goblins. I met him last year and he signed my copy of Suspiria but he spelt my name wrong!
Scarlet Diva is a lot of fun, it had a cameo by Joe Coleman in it.Has anyone seen the card player? I remember seeing the poster for it and thinking it looked pretty cool. Is it a western? Didn't Dario work on the screenplay for Once Upon a Time in the West?
Three cheers for Ennio Morricone. Has anyone ever listened to John Zorns the big gundown? Its his take on some classic Morricone orchestrations. If you like free jazz and spaghetti westerns I highly recomend it. Its candy for your ears.

The Big Gundown in one of the truly great modern jazz albums.

The card player was not his best!
Argento's masterpiece was defenitey "Profondo Rosso" (Deep Red in the english version),
All the latest Argento's movies sucks,"non ho sonno" was probably the worst.I think he's not going to make any other masterpiece in the next two-three years.

Trust me 'non ho sono' is genuis compared to 'the card player' and 'do you like hitchcock' which were just out this and last year. I dont know what the hells happened to him! Maybe we will see if he ever gets the final part of the three monthers finished....
Yeah Profondo Rosso is brilliant, Suspiria, Tenebrae and Opera too and I kind of have a thing about Phenomena also!

I've seen "Il cartaio",but I was prepared, afetr "non ho sonno"..nothing unexpected.Stendhal Syndrome it's probably one of the better among the latest movies, but nothing to do with Profondo Rosso or Opera. Also "The phantom of the opera was a better one, despite I dont' like it very much.

Trauma has its moments also, I think, though not one of his best. Oh yeah, and The Bird with the Crystal Plumage has some great bits while being more mystery genre.
