I'm lost
May 2004

MAY 28, 2005 02:51 PM

do you still have it? did you lose it? ever catch yourself recapturing it?

Today in the woods i watched a spider in its web eat some kind of insect. They were both no bigger than the head of a pushpin. i just sort of stumbled on it and watched the scene for maybe 20 minutes in open-mouthed fascination. Who can relate?

ok, this is more child-like sense of wonder, but that made a poor title. please, continue...

Me.

This morning I walked to my car to get something. I was barefoot. While walking back, I took a good 5 minutes to splash in the puddles from this morning's rain.

I'll sit and watch ants carrying food and whatnot back to their anthill.

Sometimes i develop crushes on girls that are not at all sexual. I just sit there in awe of their "girlness." I don't think about nailing them, I just want to hold their hand or make them laugh, or stick my tongue out at them. And I get all silly about it. At heart I think I'm a 5 year old when it comes to love sometimes.

I still spend hours feeding ants to ant lions in the sand dunes up in Michigan during the summer.

I still play with dolls and spend hours in Toys-R-Us, not buying anything, just playing. I also still HAVE to sleep with my baby security blanket and stuffed elephant or I will flip out and not be able to sleep.

I see it in my daughter everyday and it comes to life in me when I see her. Something about babies just does it every time.

My beautiful little princess.

Me too. I had no idea all the silly songs and rhymes I had stored away in my head till I had my daughter. We have a lovely time being silly kids together and blowing raspberries on each others' bellies.

Of course, I never stopped playing on jungle gyms and starting food fights. Nobody told me I had to stop, so I havent. biggrin

I don't have the innocence, but i do have an intense passion for things. Jumping in like i have nothing to loose. It's freeing and pure.
