When dealing with Hunter S. Thompson, why scatter his ashes when you can blast them out of a cannon?

Known for his enthusiastic use of firearms, being blasted in powder form out of a cannon seems somehow fitting.

Besides even without using firearms who wouldn't want to have their ashes blown out of a cannon after they die?!

I live in Aspen, the news of it has been around for some time. They were originaly going to do it on Buttermilk Mnt. but I guess that idea got nixed. What sucks is its a private event. Hell if I were going to get blown out of a Fucking CANNON I would want every one to see it.

I think it takes courage to make a decision which means you essentially won't wake up the next day and carry on with life.

me? I'm a coward. I'm too chicken to use a rope, gun, razor or pills. Not that I would want to...but I've gotta give respect to people like Doctor Thompson who CHOOSE to live and die on their OWN terms.

I think the "news" part of this is in who's doing it, and how:

The headline I saw yesterday read "Johnny Depp to shoot Hunter's ashes" or something like that.

wonder if theyll mix a little bit of coke in with the ashes. thatd be kinda fitting for the man as well. guns and drugs. now thats a party.
