The time has come for me to get car insurance.I'll need the cheapest, least responsible insurance possible. I'm basically looking to spend the least amount of money and be allowed on the road legally.

Any tips? Links?

Then again I'm still listed on my dad's account, so perhaps that's why it's not too expensive. I probably should not have posted here since I don't have any real advice to give. Sorry.

Allstate said I needed to have a license for three years and auto insurance for a year prior to applying.

Jerks.

I really like progressive.
I haven't had an accident since I started using them, but they have good prices, and you can do everything, including buying the insurance online.
I like it. I'm 23, have a clean license, and drive a 92 El dorado in ny, I pay $105.24 a month, which is the lowest I've ever paid.

progressive is very nice. They sent this really hot chick to come over and look at my car. Then she laughed when I was drunk and was hitting on her the next night at some bar. Yeah... I have 2 points on my license and only pay $110 a month. Not bad at all.

It is, even if their commercials are painful. No gecko at least.

I say get an independant agent.

I've had the same one for 9 years, and in that time I've changed companies about 5 times. Saves me time and money. Let them do the hard work and find you the best deal. If you think they're bloating the price just call the ins companies direct and see.

and progressive can eat my ass. at least the regional office here can.

What if my mother married someone who served? Does that count?

i think it might... see if they have it, i think it's easier if they already use it for you to get covered. on their main site they have a link to a questionnaire to find out if you're eligible, give that a shot.

I just had to renew mine. Bah. How come even though I'm 23, and with 3 years of no claims, some companies still can't quote me a reasonable price?
