No shit eh? Insurance is so expensive because mostly a) they are greedy motherfuckers and less so b) people abuse insurance -- they go to the doctor for stupid piddling shit, demand drugs they don't really need (thanks to direct-to-consumer pharmaceutical marketing), and above all treat their bodies like garbage and then run to the doc demanding pillspillspills to fix it all. It costs insurance companies a real crapload, but of course they have no issues with jacking the premiums to compensate PLUS ensure their fat profit margin.
What does that cover you for? How much does medical treatment cost if you don't have insurance? Would you prefer to pay for medical care through a compulsory earnings tax?

If you are spending $384 ($96 * 4 weeks) for insurance through your employer...I'd cancelit and get your own. You can most likely find it for around $200 a month
Depends. If he's got some chronic condition, like diabetes or hypertension, and needs to see the doc quarterly and has daily meds indefinitely then the higher priced one is a better deal than the major medical since he'll have to meet crazy deductibles and will end up spending just as much $$$. But, if he's a healthy young guy who never goes to the doc, then fuck it -- dump your pricey plan for the major medical coverage which should be $100-200 like the previous poster said.

oo, i can't wait to hear the reasoning behind this! let's see: not gonna pay for others' problems, why should i support those who can't afford it, the state should not be in the business of offering medical care...
