Silent FIlms

There's a box set you can get with four films, including Sunrise. Amazon totally has it.

I know about that, but I want to just buy Sunrise, dammit. I already own All About Eve and I've never seen the other two. I should just break down and buy it since it would cost me less than $25.

I don't think I've ever seen an entire silent movie.

But I'd like to.

Yes it will work on your player and yes its safe to buy from them.

The only one I've seen that hasn't been mentioned here is "Vampyr" .... it was ok. Kind of confusing.

Has anyone seen the first Dr. Mabuse film? If so how does it compare to the later Mabuse films?

It may not be a silent film but Sunset Boulevard is recommended viewing. In a sense it is film about the affects that sound had on the industry and its stars; It is also Billy Wilders greatest film.

just in the last few years i've really gotten into silent cinema.

i already have a hero such as buster keaton. love all his stuff.

i've dug cabinet of dr. caligari, passion of joan of arc, nosferatu, phantom of the opera, thief of bahgdad, diary of a lost girl, it, un chien andalou, metropolis and that's about it...i have plenty more to check out.

i taped some lloyd stuff that was playing on tcm a month or so ago, specially since those movies are ones in which vhs copies go for ridiculous prices.

i bought sunrise off of dvdfromkorea.com for very cheap. since i buy korean movies every now again, it was nice to see that one. and it's region free.

i saw vampyr, it was okay, it had some neat moments though. on the dvd, the best thing is that stop-motion short about a toy dog. that one is fucking awesome.

any silents that anyone can reccommend, feel free to name drop.
