The final duel was too fast. I don't mean the length, but the speed of the choreography was way too much for me. Aside from that, by far my second favorite of the six, right behind the first Star Wars.

"Oh, no, I'm not brave enough for politics."
Obi-Wan Kenobi.

I really don't know why people always say the acting was terrible in the originals though. I didn't "grow up" with them, I was probably 14 the first time I saw them, and I just watched the entire original trilogy again last week. The acting in the original trilogy looks like the Royal Shakespeare Company compared to the prequels. Carrie Fisher, Harrison Ford, Sir Alec Guinness, James Earl Jones of course, whoever the guy was that played the Emperor, Moff Tarkin, they were all great, hell, even Billy D. Williams was convincing as his character. Mark Hammill had some rough spots in the beginning, but watch his face as the films go on. Tell me you can't tell what his character is feeling just from looking at his face, for example the scene where Yoda dies. You can see about 15 different emotions on his face, the same ones that any real person would be feeling in that situation. The dialogue was witty and memorable. Of course there were a few clunkers, "I recognized your foul stench" etc, but there are also lines that really stick with you.

"Sir your tauntaun will freeze before you reach the first marker."
"Then I'll see you in hell!"

Quote one line from episodes 1 & 2. In a month, try to quote one line from Episode 3. See?

Yeah, this is basically the problem with the new movies in a nutshell. They just aren't very memorable - except in their badness. The scenes aren't memorable, the dialogue isn't memorable... it's like a bad videogame, basically.

Of course, some of the most memorable dialogue from the originals is ad-libbed. "I love you." "I know." - Harrison Ford, taking charge of his character.

I finally saw it. I was embarrassed for George Lucas.

It was forgivable - the sweet action made up for the mediocre dialogue. It was leaps and bounds ahead of the first 2 - it's the Empire of the new trilogy.

It's comparing apples and oranges. NOTHING can ever be the originally trilogy - and expecting the new movies to be anything like them is a bit unreasonable.

Still, nothing salvages poor writing and laziness on George's behalf.

and had darth maul not died in episode 1, but instead gotten away...

then in episode 2, there is no lame ass dooku and he is the one that again kicks anakin, ben and yoda's ass...

only to be killed in episode 3 (again in place of dooku) by anakin in the beginning...

bananas!
