given the choice, would you choose to madly love someone that you could not be with, or not to love anyone at all?

and why?

my answer: still working on it.

Better to have loved and lost than to have never loved at all is my answer.

I've been madly in love with somebody I couldn't be with, at least not permanently, and it hurt me to no end.

But I wouldn't trade a goddamn minute of that for my life!

not to love anyone at all
its easier i think. unrequited love is only good for movies and songs. in real life its not tragic its usually pathetic

And I would agree.

It would be interesting to never fall in love. Extremely independent, kind of.

Of course I'd rather just find someone to love that i COULD be with.

I think the real question is did I become a masochist because I loved someone I couldn't be with or did I love someone I couldn't be with because I was a masochist.

You can't choose who you fall in love with, only what you do about it once you've fallen in...

My grandma said-
"Love many, trust few, but always paddle your own canoe."

Granny drank alot. She's irish.

Unrequited love is the worst. Unfortuntately, usually you have no choice. Love is funny like that.

After reading The Outsider by Albert Camus, I would say I would prefer to not love.

You see, despite his unfortunate end, he was a content man. Maybe not happy as such, but at least he wasn't depressed, which os what unrequited love often ends up being.

The thing about unrequited love is that you're miserable most of the time but when you're happy, you're very happy. I think both are good experiences, but I would hate to see either of them become a permanent condition. If I had to choose though...

Theoretically:Unrequited love because even if you aren't with that person, they are still in your life. If they are love-worthy surely it's better to have them around, even if it's only as friends.

Actually:No love at all because unreturned love can get pretty twisted pretty fuckin' quick. It's usually way too tied up with neediness to be healthy, at least in my experience.

If you've never been with someone, you can't love them.
