I'm fairly new to the community but I guessed there would me more than a few fans of the ubdeservedly short-lived series on here. I recently picked up the DVD set and watched the whole set during three days. Soon, me and a friend plan on having a marathon. Any favorite episodes, characters, or quotes?

Personally, I loved the last few episodes with Samaire Armstrong (Anna from the O.C.) playing the deadhead named Laurie. Every episode was amazing though.

I'm not sure what happened to the group. Do they automatically disappear if nobody posts in a while? Because although the posts in that group were pretty fun, they were generally few and far between...

But yeah, F&G is my favorite show. Ever. Period.

Its awesome to see other people love the show. I still think its the best thing I have seen on tv. If there is no longer a group maybe we should start one.

Good idea. I'd start one but as far as I know, it's hard for a newbie to get a group, so if one of you wants to give it a try, it'd be great.

It was the best show ever. I even bought the scripts. I know.

But... Freaks and Geeks is love. So many great episodes. Like, when Sam throws out his matchbox cars because Neil calls him a baby for still having them? TEARS. Tears streaming down the face. The same thing happened to be, with fucking Melissa Bobo and my Barbies. Asshole.

I watch a lot of TV, including Buffy, and I can safely say that Freaks and Geeks is the best TV show ever made.

If it had been scheduled between Friends and ER it would probably be on Season Seven now, and people would be no doubt be complaining that it's jumped the shark. But imo, this show could have gone on until the characters were in their fourties and it STILL would have been the best show ever.

Love love love the show.

And yeah, groups get deleted if there are no posts for 30 days.

If thats the case for the group, the staff might not be keen on approving another one since the last one didnt have many posts.

if a TV show group goes under, they usually move the group and all it's threads and posts to the TV Group.

Oh man. I attempted to watch the entire series in one sitting with a friend. We lasted 10 hours and 15 minutes (we got up to hafway through episode 14 "Dead Dogs and Gym Teachers" before we switched off). I switched off personally because it's just hard to watch that much tv continuously, especially if you've seen some of the episodes quite a few times before.

But I learned quite a lot from the experience:

- When watching episodes continuously you notice really weird changes that gradually occur. Such as Lindsey's eyebrows very gradually getting wider and wider with each episode. She started off the series with a half inch gap between them but by the end it was almost a unibrow.

- Nick is fucking twisted. He does so many crazy things throughout the series, but they're limited to about one per episode so you never really notice them. Watched together, I can safely say he is a bit mentally unstable, his mind works in mysterious ways man.

- Kim seems a lot less evil now. For every bad thing she does to Lindsey there's about 5 nice things. The actress who plays her, plays her well.

- The show is without question the best casted series in the history of TV. So you really notice it when the role of top mathelete bitch Shelly is given to a really hot girl, who just looks very modern. Best casting of a guest star is Mrs Foot (?), Bill's blonde teacher, who is exactly like a teacher I had in school.

- Lindsey's mum is the only boring regular in the show. You don't really notice because all her conversations are with the dad or Lindsey, who are the both excellent. It's one of those things where no-one realises you're shit because you're surrounded by really talented people.

- The Garage Door plot was the only shit plot in the series. I didn't care about Neil's dad, he was boring and Sam's emotional reaction to that whole thing, and then getting an Atari was just confusing. Why did he burst into tears?

- The best episodes are the first three, I'm With The Band, Looks and Books, The Diary, Chokin' and Tokin', and Discos and Dragons. Worst is The Garage Door.

- I still can't decide whether it's the best show ever or not.

One of my former moderators from the site I admined (rpg.net) was an actor on the show: Stephen Lea Shepphard, who played Harris Trinsky.

He was also in the Royal Tennenbaums.

Cool guy, and pretty damn laid back all around, for a gamer dork. confused tongue

He's still a community regular there. Hell, the guy has like 10 billion posts.

Yeah, I absolutely fucking HATED Kim when I first saw the show. After having watched the DVDs a few times, I really like the way her character progresses. She's awful in some ways, but she has redeeming characteristics that come through at particularly important moments.

This show was so damn good. I lost a little bit of my faith in humanity when it was cancelled.

I hated Kim the most during Kim Kelly Is My Friend in the cafeteria scene, where she was like "whos going out with who? Jeez, the people in this school are so gossipy, y'know?" and then stuck her finger inside lindsey's dessert. It was just that lindsey was insecure enough hanging with the freaks at that time, it was fucked up of her to do that.

Her best moment was when she was telling Sam what she would do to Karen. "I'm gonna break both of her arms. Then I'm gonna set her hair on fire", and he's like "Jeez don't hurt her too bad". And the "No problem, geek" ending to that episode is fucking classic.

It was a stunningly well written episode in that it really made you hate her to begin with, and by the end she was redeemed but didn't lose the spark in her character. When humanising villains on screen it's easy to mess up and not be quite convincing enough (eg Musings of a Cigarette Smoking Man), or the problem that the redeemed villain isn't as fun as they were when they were evil (eg Spike). "No problem, geek" was just the perfect ending to that episode.
