I'm looking forward to this, I remember watching the show a couple years ago and loving it. Ever since I saw the Aeon Flux signs at the theater I've been meaning to look into it. I am a little worried about how the effects are going to look, the show was so over the top that most of the movements couldnt really be done by people (without massive CG).

I can't really see Theron as Aeon Flux. I always pictured her being about seven feet tall and morbidly anorexic, but not. I don't know. I'll go see it.

It would be really neat if they made the movie as a set of six twenty minute long shorts that, like the cartoons, were only really connected by the presence of Aeon Flux and occaisionally Trevor.

Hey! Where's all the skin that's supposed to be showing?

I like Charlize anyhow and I'm a sucker for action movies with female leads. I'll check this out.

I'm really disappointed in the costume, her hair and her body type doesn't really fit. confused

I don't expect much of this movie, but I'll go see it anyway. (And it comes out on my birthday, so it will give me something to do that day)

Wow, just slogged through that, and it wasn't reassuring. I see no reverence for the source.

Inks, minx the old witch winks, the fat begins to fry,
Nobody home but jumping Joan, father, mother and I,
Stick, stock, stone dead. The blind man can’t see,
Every knave will have a slave, you or I must be he!

Anyone see it yet? I just watched it and I kind of dug it. I'm sure most of the fans will not like it though, since it isn't too faithful to the original show. There are a few minor things from the series but they decided to go a completely different route with the story and give the movie a coherent plot. I wasn't too thrilled with the guy who played Trevor but I did think Charlize Theron wasn't bad as Aeon. She wasn't dead on, but they could have done a lot worse. I think that last bit sums up the whole movie. Not great but they could have done a lot worse.

I was entertained.

this disappoints me. seriously, the weirdness and incoherance of the cartoon is what made me love it. that was its shtick- incoherance leading to this weird alienating feeling.

you know, the reviews crucifying this were just way, way overboard. it certainly wasn't the greatest movie i've ever seen, but i wasn't bored, and i didn't feel like it insulted my intelligence. the problem is, most people watched aeon flux for the fucked up subtext and graphic sado-sexual imagery, and that's something they just could not put in this movie.

Why couldn't they?
They could have. But they decided to make it "commercial" instead.

because the only people that would have gone to see it would have been super hardcore aeon flux fans, first of all, and that's MAYBE a million people. not enough to make a profitable movie. and secondly, no major actor would do that film, which means even less audience. thirdly, the studio wouldn't put it out at anything about a pg13. regardless, i certainly wouldn't call this movie very "commercial".

Haven't seen it, but I plan to. I was a fan of the original animated series on MTV.

From the trailers, the "making of" documentary on MTV, and the website, I've adjusted my expectations...downward. Clips from a Charlize Theron interview are interspersed throughout the MTV promo documentary and the quote that sticks in my mind is "I wanted to remain true to the character but I didn't want to show all my bits."

Well, Aeon would have shown you her bits, while she choked the life outta you with her bare thighs.
