You know how everyone goes "I wish I could go back to my high school years to change this or that thing", or at least thinks it whenever they get sorry? I figured out why that's stupid.

So: the implication is that you either didn't get enough out of your highschool years, or that you squandered them on vice, inactivity or bad company. Thus, the imaginary scenario is that you would go back in the Delorean and be sixteen again, free to start over, knowing everything you know now.

FACT: When you're sixteen you have no power. It might seem like you did, but you didn't. You're about three feet tall. If you were like me, you had some awful fire face. If you were like others, you suffered from any number of other post-pubescent annoyances. If you're a guy, you still have hair – but it's gonna start falling out all over again. You likely have no money because you have no job. If you do have a job, it probably sucks.

FACT: Everyone between the ages of about 13 and 18 is retarded. Your goal is something like "to go back and undo everything wrong that I either did or didn't do" – but who's gonna help you do that? Everyone you knew back then was retarded. I myself am prone to think that I have always been insightful like I am now – but I didn't grow a brain until Grade Ten, and I wasn't insightful until at least half way through OAC. If you go back, everyone's going to be a lot dumber and misguided than you remember. You forget that, only because you were too. It's like when you see a two-year-old second cousin, and then see them again six years, you say "wow, they've grown!" How are the people that you know going to help you turn your life around when they're all busy smokin drugs, watching Mallrats, listening to Korn and shoplifting? They're not.

FACT: Because you're so stupid, nobody actually has a satisfying highschool experience. If you associated with bad people you come out saying "I should have associated with better people!" If you associated with good people you come out saying "I never lived!" If you dated six different people that turned up nothing, you come out saying "I should have dated such-and-such, who was a better person!" If you went with one person the whole five years and got married after graduation, you come out saying "I never lived!" If you say "I took the wrong courses!" or "I've steered my life in the wrong direction, all starting with highschool!", then steer it in the right direction. High school classes don’t mean shit aside from a diploma. If you want to redirect your life then do it. What are you, eighty?

FACT: Highschool is laughable. The good times only seemed good at the time, and for reasons unknown. If you see even Grade Twelve students out on lunch break at a highschool, not only do they look about 5 years old, you can also tell they're engaged in the process of wasting their lives – by the way they walk, dress, talk, the way they cackle like sluts and grope at each other like dirty homos. Three or four years from now they'll all be going "what the fuck did I do with my
highschool years?", just like you right now. Remember how in highschool, you thought you were the shit? Nope, you looked just like these clowns. There's no more applicable word than clowns.

The old people were right!

Time travel is not yet possible.

Isn't something that "seemed like a good time" a good time? Isn't that what you define a good time by? By how it made you feel?

Hey man, high school was great, compared to middle school and junior high. I discovered my passion (theatre) and made the closest friends I'll probably ever have. Granted, it was no college, but still...

Correction, time travel is not possible (at least in the sense everyone thinks of it).
