you being a 'loner' sounds oddly like you're reaching out to people. you writing the thread says you're reaching out to people.

I say that each of you that read this pick a night in the next week and go out...by yourself...and have a good time at a club, park, bar, whatever. Just do it by yourself. Then tell us how it went.

or recluse.

or eccentric misanthrope.

I think some people are just more comfortable by themselves or at arm's distance.

im a loner, i think, i still do stuff with people and have "friends" but as for the whole fitting in thing, i dont do that, it is just the way i am, i wass born different (thank god, or whoever) the thing is you have to remember there is a fine like between being a loner and being a very lonely person who is just LOOKING FOR ATTENTION

oops was that caps an acident?????

Ha! In college my favourite word was "anti-socialite" and never left my room. Since then I've only become more misanthropic. Starting June I'm going to quite going out altogether.

I'm a recovering loner. Try this: try to get through a week without saying a single word to anyone. Do all the normal things. If you must, speak to anyone, keep it as short as possible.

I wen't through a week once uttering only one word "plastic". I said it about twice during the week when I got groceries.

The odd thing, at least for me, was how easy it was to do (I was on a long motorcycle trip).

I'm a loner, because I have a hard time going out. I feel uncomfortable in public. Growing up I really had no chance at all to develop any self-esteem. I was not just that one person everyone made life hell for, but I was also the target for my mom. I was there so I was the one that got yelled at and put down. I like being a lone and all but every now and then you start all that self reflecting shit and I get depressed. I can go out have a conversation with a complete stranger so long as they initiate it though. But then you come back to the fact I never really go out. So as long as I keep going as I have I'll remain a loner, be it good or bad.

I dunno man you sound pretty healthy to me! You don't seem all that bothered by it or depressed that you are a loner. Matter of fact it seems you are very happy with it. I don't think there's an unwritten rule anywhere saying that if you are happy going out by yourself that something is wrong. Go with it if it makes you happy.

I don't mind sitting at home by myself, but I don't go out alone. It's just boring for me.
