Everyone hates deadbeat dads... but what about people who rip off the Girl Scouts? Well, the Girl Scouts are fightin' mad, because they're bringing deadbeat cookie buyers to court over unpaid cookies.

Christine Slowinski, communications director for the Girl Scouts' Great Blue Heron Council, said the legal action Thursday came only after several efforts to collect the money from sales of cookies in the annual fund-raising campaign over the past two years.

The amounts owed by two couples and three other women ranged from $301.42 to $1,485.68.

Imagine if this went to a collection agency: "We're calling about unpaid cookies."

I work for a collection agency. And I call people about credit cards and the such and get bitched out by people, I can only imagine what they would say back to me about that.

Okay, to let some one slide on one or two boxes is one thing but $1500 worth! Either this story is made up or those chicks are frickin' retarded. I mean really how many boxes of cookies do you hand over before you say 'hey, you owe me some money."

They were re-selling the cookies on the GS black market.

I like the abreviation GS, it like they are just too young to get on to SG.

Thing I dont get is this. You order the cookies and pay for them when you get them. So why were they handing over the cookies without collecting payment?Unless things have changed since I was a girl scout.

That's odd... I always pay them when I order the cookies, and then they either deliver them later or give them to me if they have them on-hand. Did it used to be order, receive, and THEN pay? confused

I LOVE Thin Mints. I swear they put heroin in them. I go through two boxes in a day sometimes.

What are these Thin Mints you speak of... These cookies do not exist here. frown

And anyone low enough to rip off Girl Scouts deserves to be tied to a post (using regulation knots of course...) and beaten with sticks.

I'd only spend that much on GS cookies if they were, of course, made from real Girl Scouts.

Oops, did I say that out loud.

No wonder they don't come to my house anymore.
