How do you go about finding stores that sell used DVDs? For used video games there seem to be plenty of big chains... Gamestop, EB, Game Crazy, etc. But I don't think I have ever seen a used DVD/movie store anywhere near me. Some of the movie rental stores sell used DVDs, but they have a very limited selection. Are there even used DVD chain stores, or do you just have to find a local shop or something?

Pretty sure Reckless Records does.

There is a small chain in Ohio and MD called The Exchange (used to be record exchange). There appears to be something similar on West Belmont in Chicago. They usually carry a lot of used DVDs.

Around here blockbuster sells used Dvds or "pre-viewed" rather. I thought all big chains did. Way of making more money off the stock, right?

I'm out in the suburbs so all the hip Chicago stores are like... far.

Maybe I should just drive up to the mall, there has to be a used DVD store somewhere there.

I know the Blockbuster and Hollywood videos have them, but they generally have like... only the stuff that was released like 6 months ago or whatever... all the stuff they bought a crapload of for release and now that the movies aren't popular anymore they need to sell off.

Which definately doesn't help me, since I mostly just want anime.

ok. your needs.

i've gotten lots of cheap dvds at amazon, from the retailers that work through them, not the actual amazon store themselves. i got lost boys special edition for $10, for example. it takes longer to ship, but they are way cheaper.

Man I should have been more specific in my first post, I feel bad now.

I want something in my area, not online, since really... I want it now. Well, sometime tonight. I'm just wondering if these are used movie stores like there are Gamestops and Game Crazys. Or maybe DVDs are cheap enough that people don't buy them used as much?

then you, my friend, are basically fucked. people sell movies they don't want to watch anymore. how many people do you know that collect anime would sell their hard won stash? especially for the pittance most used dvd places would pay for them. i'm not saying it doesn't happen, but you should treat it like the holy grail when it does. your best bet would be amazon or ebay (possibly).

Eh, mall is open till 9 I think. And I have food cooking at the moment. Plus I don't even own my own car, well... until I get that free mini-van. So I need to wait for a car to get back here.

I don't know, my cousin sold all his anime off lately. Nothing I wanted though. Plus I had already seen it all like 10 times each since I used to go over to his place a lot. I mean, I see your point about the diehard anime fans, but when one of them DOES decide to sell off their collection... bam, it will be a motherload.
