I just finished "Born on a Blue Day". It was pretty good. The library only had the large print version of the book available at the time, so sometimes I imagined I was reading a gigantic book. I don’t know why it took me the full three weeks to read it - too much time spent lurking on SG probably. For Christmas I want the gift of synaesthesia.
I've got several books here, pondering which one to have a crack at first. They all look incredibly interesting, but I'm probably leaning most towards Chomsky (naturally lol), or the one about women in punk and the Riot Grrrl revolution.
But man, the language McCarthy uses is astounding. The way he describes the violence that goes on in the book is well-executed.
And Judge Holden is one of the best-written characters I've read in a while.
Sounds like how I felt after reading The Road. My wife asked me how it was, and I said it was the most beautiful rendering of absolute misery and hopelessness.
