i recently quit. i feel infinitely better without evil, roiling, acidic coffee in me all the time. i don't know, maybe i'm a pansy but i just don't think it's right and proper to drink coffee every morning and/or throughout the day - and hell, i'm a coder.

it still tastes like pure awesome though... once in a while i'll grab some after a particularly carb-laden lunch so i don't pass out on my keyboard.

I did that last week because I went on The Master Cleanser. It's a fast, so that means no coffee - and that was the scariest part. But after the first day, I didn't miss the caffeine at all, and this is after years and years and YEARS of drinking it every morning.

I did, and then I got severely depressed for 6 months... I had one cup of coffee incidentally, felt like myself again for the first time since i quit, and never stopped again. Also, no longer depressed. smile smile smile It's a big chemical change, it shouldn't be taken lightly.
Just be careful, a lot of people have that problem but it's so gradual that they don't put it together. I think some people just do better with it, I only have one or two cups of coffee a day anyway. Some people do better with Yerba mate or teas, too.. They're gentler and overall pretty good for you.

Why would you quit? That is madness. I would only quit if I started slamming dope instead. That could be the only substitute.

I went through the same thing. I have 1 cup of coffee a day now,, and that's usually all.

i'm trying to kick it (sorta)
i only have caffeine free soda in the apt
and i dont drink any coffee after 3 pm

i still drink about 32oz just about every morning... but baby steps

the reason i'm trying to reduce is because i had my bone density monitored at a work health fair and i have brittle old granny bones (30% less than the average 25 year old) ---> caffeine leaches calcium

From what I've seen watching someone quit EQ is akin to watching someone quit heroin. Congrats man you can do it!

Maybe you should swicth to decaf. It took me the rest of the afternoon to think up the proctology exam/proctor an exam joke, and my girlfriend shot it down when I tried to tell it to her.

wean yourself onto green tea. the caffeine is much less harsh and quite beneficial, what all the antioxidants and such.

benefits of green tea.

yeah but you need like 10 cups for it to be effective for antioxidant properties and that kinda negates the purpose of weening yourself off of caffiene!!
