I'm lost
December 2004

Random things you know by heart......since childhood above all else. Like weird personal poems, bad but meaningful songs, obscure excerpts from books, or just something completely random.

I have like the worst memory...and I barely remember anything b4 gradeschool.....but for some reason I remember this poem::

the backword poem.

one dark day in the middle of the night
2 dead boys went out 2 fight
back 2 back they faced each other
drew their swords and shot each other
a deaf police man heard the noise
and came to shoot the 2 dead boys
if you think this lie isn't true
ask the blind man, he saw it 2.

so...what's cracking you?

The periodic table. It haunts me. And I wasn't even a science major. I was obsessed with Tom Leher as a kid. He has a song where he sets them to music. I know it by heart.

Buttercup Days
by A.A. Milne

Where is Anne?
Head above the buttercups,
Walking by the stream
Down among the buttercups.
Where is Anne?
Walking with her man,
Lost in a dream,
Lost among the buttercups.

What has she got in that little brown head?
Wonderful thoughts which can never be said.
What has she got in that firm little fist of hers?
Somebody's thumb, and it feels like Christopher's.

Where is Anne?
Close to her man
Brown head, gold head
In and out the buttercups.

thy fingers make early flowers of all things
thy hair most the hours love
a smoothness which sings, saying
(though love be a day)
do not fear, we will go amaying

thy whitest feet crisply are straying
always
thy moist eyes are at kisses playing
a strangeness which much says, singing
(though love be a day)
for which girls art thou flowers bringing?

to be thy lips is a sweet thing
and small
death, thee i call rich beyond wishing
if this thou catch, else missing
(though love be a day)
(and life be nothing)
(it shall not stop kissing)

The Pledge of Allegiance in Spanish. It's almost the only thing I remember from three years of high school Spanish, and I can pronounce it like I've been speaking the language my entire life...

don't you ever laugh as the hearse goes by
for you may be the next to die
they wrap you up in a big white sheet
from your head down to your feet
they put you in a big black box
and cover you up with dirt and rocks.
all goes well for about a week
and then your coffin begins to leak.
the worms crawl in
the worms crawl out
the worms play pinnacle on your snout,
the big green worm with rolling eyes
crawls in your stomach and out your eyes.
your stomach turns a slimy green
and puss pours out like whipping cream!
you put it on a slice of bread
and that's what you eat when you are dead.

and I know: 1.618. Tell me what it is, (Al doesn't count) and I'll give you a cyber cookie.

Here's one of the classier songs from elementary school that, for some bizarre reason, I still remember in its entirety by heart. I think it's because it was my first introduction to quasi-dirty words. Oh my!

Miss Suzy had a steamboat.
The steamboat had a bell.
Miss Suzy went to Heaven;
the steamboat went to--

HELL-o Operator!
Give me number 9,
and if you disconnect me,
I'll kick you from--

Behind the 'fridgerator
there was a piece of glass.
Miss Suzy sat upon it,
and broke her little--

Ask me no more questions,
I'll tell you no more lies.
The boys are in the bathroom
zipping up their--

Flies are in the trash can.
Bees are in the park.
Miss Suzy and her boyfriend
are kissing in the--

Dark is like a movie,
a movie's like a show.
A show is on the TV,
and that is all--

I know, I know my mother.
I know, I know my pa.
I know, I know my sister
with a 40-acre bra.

One part of love is innocence
One part of love is guilt
One part, the milk, that in a sense
Is soured as soon as spilt.

One part of love is sentiment
One part of love is lust
One part, the presentiment
Of our return to dust.

"Weaveworld," Clive Barker
