Riddle - how did he die?

when going on long road trips, me and my friends like to do this riddle game where we set up a scenerio in one sentence and try to figure out how it happened based on a series of questions and figuring out the twisited logic of things.


1) so.....let's see if it'll work online: A fresh body lays dead on the floor in an empty room...with a hole in it's throat and puddle of water under him.

the reason he died is irrelevant.
when he died is irrelevent.
and where he is irrelevent.

all you need to figure out is how he died.....

p.s. if you know the answer already, let people who haven't heard it before try and figure it out.

2) a man goes to an island with his wife and eats a meal then kills himself that night.

why?

that was a different one...on the same premise.

it was a fish that fell out of a tank. the water came from the tank, the holes in it's throat are the gills.
