One was an alleged Soviet spy, Margarita Konenkova, a Russian Demigr De married to a Greenwich Village sculptor.
Has anyone ever come accross the term "Demigr De" before? I can't find it in any dictionary, and there are only a few uses on the web. Seems to mean something like "person not living in their native land". Any ideas?

I think it's a typo. Remove the two Ds, and the extra space, and you get "emigre", which would be the appropriate term.
Still, that's about the weirdest typo I've ever seen. Maybe trying for accent marks?
