In whatever respect you choose. I have friends that can't get past their "greatness" in high school. You know the people - the same old stories. On the other hand, I'm one of those people who feels like I haven't done anything yet...

So, I'm hoping they're ahead. smile

If you live in the present and exist in the world that surrounds you, you always live in your glory days. If you spend too much time pining over the past or wishing for the future, you will never experience them. Does anyone really think they are in their "glory days" when they are happening, or is this term just applied retroactively, wistfully, Springsteen-ey?

it's a song about the futility of living in the past.

I'm a sad shrivelled wreck of a man with nothing much to look forward to.

Except the intensely amazing love of a good woman, which I found relatively recently. I'm going to lie down for the next few years and bask in that.

Sorry? Yes dear, yes, I'm coming ....

*scurries off*

Edit: woman, singular.

There are different periods of different types of glory. Every year is better than the last in that I become wiser and more mature...some things are lost over time as well. But I definitely didn't think my teenage years were all that glorious.

One of the things that got me through high school was the thought that, for all the jocks and cheerleader types, high school (and *maybe* college) was *it* for them, the prime of their life, and after that, all downhill. For me? It's been gravy ever since, and keeps getting better. biggrin

Probably being a maniac options trader during the last few months of the dotcom boom, being a broker for clients who were making ungodly amounts of money by just being in the market. I barely had to do shit. Then everything went horribly, horribly wrong tongue
