I've been a Netflix member since Feb 2000, back when you could have 4 movies out for $20/mo and if you clicked on "I Mailed It" you could have 6. But I guess people like me doing that is kind of what killed it.

severe Netflix addict. I had to cancel my account when I went overseas, so now I am starting all over again. I spent two hours yesterday just getting my que back up.

Hmm, the original version of "The Manchurian Candidate" was pretty great for the category of mindfuck. I don't really watch scary movies, or cool ones that aren't subtitled. In fact, I don't really watch as many movies as I'd like. Good thing we'll have Netflix in my house this summer. biggrin

Love Netflix, but has anyone else noticed an increase in bad DVDs? Usually i can fix it with a good cleaning, but it seems like most of the flicks I rent start skipping at some point.

Oh, and you should rent "The Dancer Upstairs". I got it on a whim, and it is VERY good. The (first?) film directed by John Malkovich, and it stars Javier Bardem. Oddly overlooked when it came out.

Amazing movie, PHENOMENAL book.

And no, I've only had to return two DVD's ever as unwatchable.

If anyone is more interested in indie and hard to find movies you should try GreenCine. Its like netflix in that they mail the DVDs, have no late fees, etc, but you can find a much wider variety of films. Hell, they even have a large "Adult Film" listing. Now who can say "no" to porn delivered right to your door?! wink biggrin

Hm, I only have three movies in my queueueue that they didn't have. (Pierret Le Fou, The Mahabarata, and The Revolution Will Not Be Televised). Their selection seems really good to me.

Most of the NetFlix movies that are listed under classics do nothing for me. I'm trying to get around to all the Academy Award Winners and such.

Academy Awards are about industry politics, not the best movie of the year.

todays double feature you need to get:
- Fail Safe & Dr. Strangelove

tomorrow's:
- Butch Cassidy & The Sting

the day after's:
- Iron Giant & The Incredibles

and the day after that's:
Treasure of the Sierra Madre & The Maltese Falcon

iron giant is so fucking sad

Have you seen The Others? I loooooved it. Scary without being gory, and it's got a twist ending so it's kind of a mindfuck too.

Netflix is the one reason I don't feel all that bad about losing my DVD collection. I can get almost any movie I want in a matter of days.

Yeah, it was a great movie even though the first time I saw it I only saw the second half when they showed it on TNT. That didn't even detract from the movie when I finally saw the whole thing smile
