Dull cowards Sane men everywhere will rejoice when they learn that women do not find bungee-jumping risk takers attractive.

Men thought the opposite sex would be attracted by risky stunts such as bungee jumping and fast driving, a study of 48 men and 52 women found.

But in contrast, women said it was a turn-off, claiming they preferred more cautious people for partners.

So, what should you do if ramping the BMX isn't going to attract the ladies?

"Previous studies have show that women are attracted to someone who acts in an altruistic way. Saving someone's life shows a degree of empathy and sensitivity, and this is an attractive trait in men.

If anyone needs me I'll be taking first aid lessons.

I bet it has to do with the women assuming that extreme sports will take the men's time up which they'd rather have spent on them.

The obvious counterpoint is that if someone is dull enough to be put off by bungie jumping, do I really want them to be attracted to me?

Maybe they're just turned off by people who are into something that was (barely) cool 10 fucking years ago.

"When you decide to do something you attach a cost-benefit to it, and when men are older the priorities they place on things change."

I would say it was more like the men actually started looking at the cost to benifits ratio once the testosterone drip dwindled. Oh nurse...

These are the same women who say they want someone "nice, caring, and funny", and then date a complete prick because he's good looking. I don't put much stock in what people say they want when they're thinking rationally.

I could imagine there are probably a large number of women who find bungee jumping men with hefty life insurance policies to be VERY attractive.

No, no, it's not the TIME. Extreme sports are EXPENSIVE.

I feel bad for those guys. Risking their necks just to get noticed. We should start a support group for them.

It's only jealousy: something attractive and that'd give big sensations, and would spend time at AND NOT beeing her! Are you kiding? biggrin

AND Benjijumping and risky driving are only the worse example of X-treme.

I am trained as a scientist and it appals me that there is such a steady stream of bullshit coming from the social sciences.

The study surveyed 48 men and 52 women to "conclude" that women have a preference for cautious men.

I don't plan to pay $30 to read the whole article online but the opinion of 52 women from a population of 295,912,580 will not be statistically valid.

That is equivalent to taking the opinion of one person in 5,690,626 as being representative and valid for all of those people. Actually, I should say from roughly 2,845,313 assuming that 50% of the population is female. That is almost like asking one person in 3 million.

Maybe it's because the women don't want the men to to risk their lives when they should be at home guarding the cave. Seriously.
