I don't drive, but if I did I wouldn't mind one of these: The Atom Aerial

In essence, just four wheels and a two-litre engine bolted to a steel frame, it doesn't score very well on the practicality front - not only do you not get a roof or boot, you don't even get any doors.

But weighing just 500kg, less than half the weight of an average small car, what you do get is a car that will do 0-60 in under four seconds and beat a Lamborghini around a race track. All for less than £25,000.

And while perhaps not for the faint-hearted, the Atom is entirely road legal.

I'm guessing the fuel efficiency isn't that great. eeek

(500 kg is 1100 pounds. I think. £25,000 is about $47,000USD. 0-60 is MPH, not KPH biggrin )

Sweet! The fuel economy may be very good. If you can keep your foot backed out of the accelerator, and depending on the fuel management system. It doesn't take much energy to push 1100lbs. biggrin

This site says:

Top speed is about 140 mph, which will feel like 160 mph! It sits quite happily at about 85 mph on motorways with plenty in reserve. Consumption may average out at 22 mpg driven with some gusto.

22 mpg ain't bad for a rocket.

When I first saw this thing I thought it looked pretty neat, but I'm not so sure.

I've converted that pesky metric to imperial: It does 0 to 100 kph (that's about 0 to 60 mph) in 8.2 seconds. It has a top speed of 185 kph, thats about 115 mph. And it has a turning circle of 8.5 metres, which is 335 inches.

So, no, I'm not so sure.

I'm quite happy with my '73 Trans Am. But that Atom Aerial does look like it'd be a blast to get behind the wheel of...
