It doesn't make you a bad person, but the fact that you paid more in gas proves that it does effect you and anyone in the market at that time knows how much of an effect those things can have on a person or family. Retirement accounts took an enormous hit. It may not be as bad as losing a family member, but seeing your retirement slip away as your locked into shit stocks sucks.

Cancer of the cervix in women is due to the Human Papilloma Virus. It thrives under and on the foreskin from where it can be transmitted during intercourse. An article in the British Medical Journal in April 2002 suggested that at least 20% of cancer of the cervix would be avoided if all men were circumcised. Surely that alone makes it worth doing?
You have to look at it like this
The average annual income in India is $350
(source: www.letsgo.com/IN)
$114 is roughly 32%
The average annual income in the US of A is $43,318 as of 2003
32% of that is $13,861.76
A pretty steep fine

Umm... Does the fact that I didn't give two shits about Sept 11 make me a bad person? Just wondering. I know there's the "We're all American" argument, and to a point I suppose that means I should care some. But Sept 11 didn't effect me except for raising the gas price even higher.
Wow, must be nice to live a completely insulated life, protected from everything outside your unbelievably limited range of view. With a life so completely isolated, the world probably wouldn't miss you if you just went ahead and offed yourself.

I see your point,
Where did you get the decoder ring?
haha it was poorly written, but basically it was trying to point out that for our culture to disapprove of another culture's habits, given the abortion example, is somewhat hypocritical. Still though, a "well we're fucked too!" argument isn't going to hold very well.

Sir, I don't live an insulated life. I live a realistic one. I was aware. I read the news. I knew what was going on as well as anyone else, but it's not like there was anything that I wanted to or realistically could do about it because those people were of no consequence to me. I wasn't in the Towers, NY, or a volunteer fire fighter group that went to help. I was not in any way affected by that entire day. Well... aside from having arguments with people about our chimp president and his handling of the situation. I thought that people who were crying at my school the next day for people they didn't know and slapping American flags on everything when most couldn't say the Pledge wtihout a word spotter, were being rather stupid. Call me shallow. Fine. I've admitted to being worse. Call me an asshole. Ok. But don't pretend like I don't know what goes on around me. I know, I see how it affects, me and I get on with my life. If it doesn't have an effect, then I guess it wasn't important to my reality. Milk going up a quarter a gallon would have about the same result in my life as those towers coming down. And that's still more than people on the other side of the planet, burying their kids.
