the term "Rock & Roll"

i win. tongue

As used to describe music or it's original slang meaning? Because I don't think anyone can trace the original use back to one region. And if they can I would love to hear the story.

it's a pretty well known story...

Alan Freed first used the term on a radio broadcast from Cleveland Ohio.
also, the first recognized "rock" concert (which was canceled due to the gates being crached) was the first Moondog (Freeds DJ Name) Corination Ball. which at the time was all black bands. the "all black" bands were sounding "different" than traditional R & B and freed started refering to them a "rock & roll", and i doing so started to attract an additional "white" crowd that would otherwise not come to an "r&b" show, as well. even though it was basicly R&B anyhow. much the same way that Rick Rubin added guitars to Run DMC, LL Cool J, abd others, not "creating" rap, but clearly bringing it to the "masses"

the term was first uttered in Cleveland. the first "rock" concert was in Cleveland. there was no "rock" before then, hence it was "born" here. this is not my opinion. it is a WIDELY accepted fact.

http://www.alanfreed.com/

just Google "Rock & Roll", this is far from a great mystery. trust me.
why do you think the Rock Hall is here and not New York? because we are the fucking undisputed Rock & Roll Capitol of the World! ... biotch!

wink wink

So you do mean as used to describe the music. Because the term rock & roll was used as a euphemism for sex in blues music long before Freed coined its use to describe the music. And I don't think anyone knows where the term really came form. That's the story I was asking for...

Um, Katie Holmes was born and raised in Toledo, Ohio. No offense. My old roommate went to school with her at the Notre Damn Academy. They were nicknamed the Notre Dame Dykes and the other catholic school was the St. Ursala Sluts.

Look it up on Internet Movie Database if you don't believe me.

Cleveland gave us the Dead Boys, Pere Ubu, Rocket from the Tombs, Bone Thugs N Harmony, and Eric Carmen. smile

And nearby Shaker Heights produced Halle Berry and David Wain.

Oh, also: though we did not give the world Trans-Siberian Orchestra, Cleveland was their first foothold. We were their adoptive home in the early years.

Yeah, Freed was the one to connect the term to the music.

I was born in San Francisco, but I don't consider it my hometown since I didn't grow up there. I grew up in and around Irvine, California, and nothing good comes out of there, except Gleaming the Cube. That was awesome.
