"Hey baby, can I pretend you're an e-meter and hold your cans?"

I never thought I'd be dreaming up horribly offensive scientologist pick-up lines, yet here I am.

I dunno, the whole "bat-shit insane" thing really kinda kills any potential attractiveness, you know?

I'm sorry, but I'm afraid scientology negates any sort of physical attractiveness a person might have.

what are these scientology people that makes them so unpopular, i'm not a big fan of religion in general but these seem to be worse than usual.

I don't really understand Scientology.......If your gonna chose a religion ( saying there is a right religion ) wouldn't you think it would be one thats been around lets say.........at least sense 10,000 years ago?

First, what difference does it make how long a religion has 'been around'?

Second, we hardly had spoken languages 10k years ago. The kinds of things we called 'religion' back then were things like "oh shit, that bright thing in the sky goes up and down, let's pray to the spirit that it continues to do so. let's live in fear that this being that we made up is going to kill us all someday."

Is that really more 'right' than a religion that basically says "hey, if you want to be successful, give us all your money."?

Actually, this thread just reminds me of the fantasy where I'm Long Duck Dong on the jock girl.

Now if you'll excuse me I'm going to go lay my head on my pillow.

You make valid points except for that fact that the religion was founded on a lark.

As I said if someone is to be persuaded to believe that a religion is right. It would make more sense to pick one thats been around longer the you've been alive. we hardly had spoken languages 10,000 years ago eeek Thats new to me my people where communicating threw spoken word for over half a millennium ago. No disrespect meant ( I know I'm still going to sound like an asshole but...) but you have no idea what your talking about. religion has been around for longer then 10,000 years. Natives worship of religion was far beyond your description. Before you come down on me. Know what your talking about.

*keep in mind you can't get context over the internet. I'm not challenging you in any way or yelling at you.*

My best friend just told me that the year I moved away he joined the scientology cult in search for answers to his life questions. I didn't know this until recently, and it blew my mind when he told me he joined the scientologists. I guess he was confused and was looking for answers, so that makes it okay. I guess. puke

actually i'd pick the one that was created after 10,000 years of scientific knowledge has been gained.

and the for profit thing... not really a rare thing amongst organized religion...

not that i'm a scientologist or anything... but essentially its not any crazier than any other religion. not one bit.

How is that any different from anyone else who joins Scientology, let alone making it "okay?"

I'd love to see the books from a church. I mean the financial records not the bibles. Always wanted to know the kind of money they bring in each year.

One of the guys I used to work with went away for a week and came back a Scientologist. He had work books and everything. They were funny on a level with outdated 80s sex ed videos. He also tried to make a point of "scientology is not a religion," but I've heard that one often enough to recognize that it means something more akin to "scientology is a fairly odd religion as far as religions go, but if I admit that it's a religion it will imply all sorts of stuff about it and me so I'm just going to stick it in its own category."

He was one of the last people I'd expect to go away and come back........er......bat-shit insane, but hey, I didn't know him That long. surreal
