how long is too long?

recently I went out with a few friends I ended up meeting a girl for the first time. Now I never made any attempt to pick her up so I left the club we were all at that night alone as I usually do. One of my friends that I went with texted this girls friend to ask if she liked me, I found out about this and was a little annoyed but paid no further attention to it. I get an email this week from another friend who passes on an email from this girl, she wants my email address. The whole thing got me thinking I haven't been with anyone for a while and I was kind of scared of the prospect of going out with a girl again even though I had no intention of meeting up with this girl as nice as she was. In a long way around will I ever get the confidence to get with someone again?

Well, you already know she's interested, so the hardest step is over. Just go out and make the most of it. If you're a bit too shy right now, talk to her through email for a bit.

Try not to think of it as a "date". That can put a lot of pressure on it. I usually just thinking of it as "hanging out and seeing where it goes". It makes it a lot easier.

No reason to block off a path for yourself. If it doesn't work out, it doesn't, but why kill it before it becomes anything?
