Sometimes geeks aren't as bright as we assume them to be.

Seven weeks before its release, "Star Wars" fanatics started lining up outside Grauman's Chinese Theater for the sixth installment of the popular George Lucas movie series. The vigil began Saturday.

But there's a problem: "Star Wars: Episode III -- Revenge of the Sith" won't be showing at the Hollywood landmark when the movie is released May 19. The studio, 20th Century Fox, opted instead to open the film a mile away at the ArcLight theater.

Still, the resolute "Star Wars" die-hards aren't moving on. Beneath a makeshift awning, 11 people refused to relinquish their spots in line.

Geeks aren't necessarily smart, they're just retards who couldn't socialise properly because they sat at home watching to much Star Wars.

I am friends with nerds, and i realize something. Anyone who can camp outside a theathre for 7 weeks, and not be missed, is dead. They don't even exist in the real world. Wouldn't it be sad knowing that if you stopped existing nothing at all would change? And that you are pathetic enough to camp outside a building in order to see a movie. A Movie. first. so they can chat about it on forums and blogs and talk about how leet they are.

for shame!

ps. theyerg is right, we all know those CNN reporters are gonna stela the good seats

It's a ploy, I tell you. A ploy!

"We've heard all this before," fan Sarah Sprague said, noting there were plenty of rumors in 1999 and 2002 that previous "Star Wars" movies weren't opening at the Chinese Theater. The rumors were false and the films were shown there.

Pretty weird and pathetic - Here's what it would take: a phone call to the Arclight down the street.

I think it's kind of a shame too that Grauman's Chinese is not showing it, but ever since the Arclight came into being, the grand old theatre has steadily been going downhill in terms of major releases they get. It sometimes is neck and neck with the Arclight, but in fact the Arclight is a much better movie and digital theatre all around.

Certainly is a LOT better for waiting (I've been passing the last few crazy-people lines, living in Hollywood, and while it's all a nice party atmosphere, things get pretty "living on the street"-ish after awhile. VERY yukky.

The Arclight - not on the boulevard, a restaurant, a huge patio, interesting events, 10 movies to see at any time, the Cinerama Dome, and while it's living outside, they really should be happier for the safty if nothing else.

My 2 cents. ooo aaa

My friend told me about geeks that camped out for three days at a theater in Erie, PA to see the Phantom Menace, and the first showing of the movie at that theater didn't even sell out. Now that would make you feel dumb.

I don't think I could stand to wait in a long line to see a movie, let alone camp out. Maybe I have no patience.

And in one of those quirky little tidbits:
Q: what is the most you can shorten a word in English without changing its pronunciation?
A: Queue - Q

Its also the longest uninterrupted string of vowels in an English word.
