I've always been a fan of poetry. Written and spoken word. I've written for quite a while now. This is the first thing I've written for others to see. It's spoken word so bare with it as the emotion doesn't flow off of paper the way it does of tongues. feedback welcomed

You left before I was born
COWARD
I needed you!
I remember sitting down as a kid
trying to figure out what the hell I did
to make you leave
COWARD

I wasn't even birthed yet
Barely even conceived yet....you left

Where was you when I was on the streets rebelling
seeking your guidance, discipline in the form of direction
COWARD
I needed you!
Sitting by the phone, every day by that phone
waiting for your call
knew you had the number but...
but...maybe you was to busy to call
you know getting a job and house together
preparing for our future life together
but never did you call
COWARD
I needed you!
Where was you when I was telling kids you was dead
I couldn't handle that amount of rejection
That shit mess with a kid's head

Where are you as I prepare my life
for my future kids and wife
COWARD
See I aint like you
Ima always be there
knowin my little man gonna need me right there
