It could be emotional or physical. I think the worst for me was getting my finger snapped in front of me in a truly epic ass-kicking of yours truly in a crappy bar in Moscow. I was in the hospital for four weeks and to this day I can't move my finger 100 percent.

Took a half inch chunk out of a finger with part of an unevenly sharpened broadsword. I don't recall it being painful in the usual sense, but I do recall that I came close to passing out as I went upstairs to get gauze and neosporin.

So, I'm having the show of my life, everything is perfect, when all of a sudden one of my tigers bites my throat and starts dragging me around...wait, was that...that might've been Roy.

For me, it was when I got carpal tunnel syndrome at the ripe old age of 18.

Cortisone shots are horrendous. Large needle deep into the muscle and then they keep TWISTING it repeatedly. No numbing beforehand. I had a series of these shots. Broken bones, sprains, deep wounds, and concussions have nothing on them. mad blackeyed

Anything involving teeth. I can handle any other kind of pain in pretty stoic fashion, but I have had tons of tooth problems over the years, and they always reduce me to a whining cranky little be-ho.

12 years old, body boarding at Bellows beach on Oahu, Hawaii. My pasty Irish ass can only take so much sun before I fry a blistering red, so I put on a t-shirt and head back in the water. After a few minutes, a Portuguese Man-o-war (jellyfish) the size of an orange somehow gets stuck under the shirt during a wipeout. It seared into my back, and the more i tried to get it out, the more the tentacles got stuck up under my arm. I tried to get the wet shirt off, but it got stuck on my head, so I had red welts all over my back, sides, neck, face, and hands. CHRIST that hurts. I still shudder when I even SEE a jellyfish at an aquarium to this day.

Somebody else here with jellyfish experience back me up... blackeyed

Having a dislocated finger and torn tendon fucking hurts mad

The most painful was probably a car accident I was in; fortunately, I've never remembered anything after getting into the car. For that day and the next, I'm not like the guy from Momento or anything like that, I remember most days now.

I think the most painful thing I can remember would be the time I accidentally set my leg on fire and a couple of weeks after that. I was thirteen and being stupid, gasoline that was already on fire, got all over my right pants leg. When I got the fire put out, there were a few spots on my leg that were bleeding, so I decided to put some bandages on those spots. The next day when I decided to take the bandages off, the skin also came off. It was so gross, my leg had bubbles all over it.

I never told my mom, so I never went to the doctor. Fortunately, it didn't get infected. But it hurt so bad all the time, especailly when I would pour peroxide all over it.

Worst physical pain? Strangely it's not the time I got mauled by a rottweiler and ended up with 72 stitches.

The worst pain I ever felt was when I was a kid, trying to climb a tree, and standing on one of my grandfather's carpenter stools, the kind with a toothed blade on the rim of the underside kindof like the blade on a tape dispenser. I guess it's for scraping your shoes or something. Anyway, I slipped, the stool tipped over, and my tibia (the bone right near the surface of your lower leg at the front) went right down that blade. Took a neat slice out of my leg along that bone like carving a ham or something. Motherfucker that hurt like a sonofabitch. Didn't go to the hospital, though. Still have the scar, and yep, it looks like my leg is missing a little slice.

Second most painful would be, also when I was a kid, stretching my arms out from the back seat after a long car ride in my aunt's hatchback. She had the hatch open and was getting stuff out, and then slammed the hatch back down onto ALL of my fingers on BOTH hands, except the thumbs. Holy fuck! The worst part is that I was the only one still in the car, they went inside, and I'm in there screaming my head off for however long it took them to wonder why I hadn't come in yet. blackeyed

i have a high tolerance for physical pain... honestly, nothing really stands out for me in that area. emotional pain hurts more in my opinion.

About ten years ago I had a deep fryer spontaneously drain on my foot, and I watched the skin and bones just melt. The injury itself wasn't the most painful part, though it certainly wasn't anything to scoff at. Vying for the top spots would be a) about an hour after they took me home from the emergency room and I realized I'm allergic to morphine when my body started turning itself inside out, or b) a couple weeks later when they wrapped my ankle in a plastic mesh so that it wouldn't stick to the bandage. I'm allergic to plastic, and so the open wound swelled up and pretty much absorbed the mesh. When I tore off the bandages and ripped off the plastic mesh, it took a whole new layer of flesh with it.
