EXCELLENT movie. Scared the bejesus out of me. I am now bejesus free.

If you liked 28 Days Later, you'll like this. If you thought you could've liked 28 Days Later, you might like this. This Neil Marshall guy (the writer/director) is fucking sick of having it compared to 28 Days Later. But the parallels are there. Snappy dialogue, oft-grainy, shaky digital camera work, monster movie with social undertures and overtones.

All in all, four and half dismembered thumbs (they lose half a thumb for the last preachy scene... it's way too trite).

Edit: I just saw a review comparing it to Alien. Very apt.

This movie stands out as one of the only movies where the soldiers behaved in a rational, intelligent manner, and did not get slaughtered wholesale because they were being stupid. They got slaughtered wholesale because they were being chased by Monsters!

Sure, you consider the Scots one of you when it's convenient, don't you?

I have to say that I didn't like it so much, but that's just me. Meh, it's okay.

I think the problem with many UK movies is that they are either micro budget and not polished enough, or they're huge budget and a bit dull because of it. But, you know, that's just me.
