on college. I've yet to spend my G.I. Bill.

The I.T. field has had it's moments, but i really am debating in getting into the Arts at the end of the year, if there is a non-private school in state around Atlanta.

If art school is too much, I may try a different field. What degrees might be right for me if I can't get into art school. I'm thinking 2 years community college, 2 years university.

Well, there is this one course--it's kind of a social worker training type dealy. The title is "Help Bredoteau," and it's only offered at one school.

Ok, seriously, what else are you interested in besides art?

I actually like that idea, but I don't know. I'm guessing that would be a private school and milk my 20k fairly quickly?

I'm in theatre production (backstagey stuff). It's artsy and technical (for that inner engineer). I like it.

Never thought of getting into theatrical arts. I remember reading your journal saying something about hoping for a job in the field. Is that the one you were going for to break in?

Ha!

But seriously... it's so close to engineering and very artisitic! Plus it's great money and you can always do graphic design as well.

That's what I'm hoping to do. Getting into the professional community can be a little bit difficult but having the diploma in the program really helps. And with the program I'm taking at least I have a footing to get into theatre as well as film, television and music.

I can say that your biggest breaks will be in who you know. Help the people that you need to know, for free if need be.

Seconded. Going to school is worth it for the connections you make, more than the curriculum--

Journalism maybe? Your photography tends towards a PJ style, especially alot of your band shots. If you have a killer portfolio, that speaks louder than a degree, but I'd imagine a degree would help open alot more doors at magazines & print media places to let you show them your killer portfolio.

Might as well pick something you like...$20K doesn't go too far (unfortunately) in "higher education" land these days...

As a professional artist I'm just gonna say this--Don't Go To The Savannah Art Institute--I didn't go, but I know many who did and nobody I know was happy there. NOBODY. Trust me. It is a sucky school.

i can vouch. i've talked to many, many people who attended and hated it.

for $20k, i would research some public universities around your area (out-of-state tuition is way higher). i bet you'd be surprised at the quality and value of the programs. course, i'm an artist too, so i may be biased.

Nursing! Um, that has nothing to do with what you know or are interested in but there are a ton of hotties in the major. That's why I am doing it anyway tongue Guys have an easier time getting into this competative major AND all the pre-reqs can be done cheaply at a community college. biggrin

Be sure to check out the credentials of any ninja school you try and attend. There are a lot of fakes out there.

Any school will milk that 20k quickly...tuition rates are steadily on the rise, but do something that you know you'll like is my best advice. smile Good luck.
