If you liked it, I have a few more suggestions... Attack the Gas Station, Casshern, Versus, and Ichi the Killer. Suicide Club too.

I recommend the book, as well. They had to cram over 600 pages of story into 2 hours for the movie, so a lot of character development was lost in the process (but I do *love* the movie, anyway).

The translation I had was a bit wonky at first, but it's definitely a fun read.

Yep, the book is is incredible. You can get it through any major bookstore chain, I'd imagine. Found my copy at Borders.

And yeah, I doubt it'll ever be americanized, but Stephen King's "The Long Walk" deals with a similar theme.

I bought the 3 disc DVD set of Casshern after seeing the trailer and all the hype. It is easily one of my favest movies in the whole wide world. Every frame is just damn gorgeous. F'reals
Ichi and Suicide Club are wicked-awesome as well. If you like these, I also recommend Dead or Alive, and Shark-Skin Man & Peach-Hip Girl

i thought casshern was very overrated, yes the movie looks absolutely gorgeous but i found the story to be extremely petty, i was expecting a much grander story with more focus on the big war instead of using it as a background for some mutant brats.
