sure fire way to get rid of them:

plug your ears (or have someone do it for you)

hold your breath (i take a few deep breaths first)

and while holding your breath, drink a glass of water.

I usually just take a placebo. Not the over the counter stuff. Pharmaceutical grade sugar pills are the best. wink

For real, I usually just drink a lot of water and burp as long as I can. It's kinda gross, and its probably all in my head. Seems to work, though.

1. Hold your breath with water in your mouth for 10 seconds.
2. Tilt your head back and gargle with said water for another 5 seconds.
3. Swallow water whilst tilting head back.

Voila. Works EVERY time. smile

I have a foolproof solution to get you over the hiccups.... youll need your friends....

Stand in front of your friends (dont tell them why)...... Criss-cross all your fingers and stick you hands out palms first..... then, carefully lift up you left foot so that it is behind you, and (this is key) look at said foot from over your right shoulder. Hold this position for 3 mintues...

YOu friends will be ragging on you so badly youll forget all about you hiccuops cause youll be too busy beating them senseless....

take a spoonfull of peanutbutter and eat it. My great grandma taught me this when I was wee little. It has never failed me. I think It's because it is so damn hard to eat it all at once that you forget about the hiccups while concentrating on scraping the roof of your mouth with your tongue.

hang upside down and hold your breath. it works - totally!!

a chick i work with has random hiccups. and they are the highest pitched hiccups ive ever heard! its like minni mouse is doing them. she'll get them at anytime in the day and they will last through the whole day. its funny, but bloody annoying!!

locate your diaphragm (below your ribs, above your stomach. you'll feel it when you push on it).
while applying steadily increasing pressure to your diaphragm, blow out all the air you can. keep the pressure on your diaphragm and avoid taking a breath for as long as you can, or a minute, whichever comes first.

if that doesn't work, there is a pressure point between your thumb and forefinger in the meaty part of your hand. squeeze that for a while.
