I have now had the hiccups for a half an hour.

It's bad enough that I can't sleep, and now I have to deal with this? What the fuck?

Yes, I have tried everything.

Wish I could help, I can somehow banish hiccups at will. Before I picked up that trick, a full, dry spoonful of sugar sometimes worked.

my teacher when i was about 7 used to hate it when you had the hiccups. So if he heard you hiccuping he used to shout stand on the table! And ud have to climb up and stand on your desk in front of the rest of the class, the combination of shock and embarassment sured you pretty damn quick!

Okay, this works every time, I guar-ron-tee.

Fill a glass with water, then take a paper towel and fold it in half. Cover the top of the glass with the paper towel, hold it taut, then drink the entire glass of water through the paper towel.

On rare occasions you might have to do this twice, but usually the first time's a keeper.

Light a match. Drop it in a glass of water. Drink said glass of water.

If that does work, amazing

I hate the hiccups, and when I get them I tend to have them more than once throughout the day. By about the third bout with the nasty little spasms, my abs are sore and my throat starts to hurt. Bastard hiccups.

Put one finger in your left ear and slowly take a long sip from a drink. Your hiccups will be gone in no time smile

fill a plastic cup with water. bite the part of the rim that is farthest away from you. bend over and tilt the cup up (but not too much!). swallow.

it really does work.

but if you still have hiccups right now, sweet jesus, i apologize on behalf of your diaphragm surreal

I haven't had hiccups in like 5 years. But holding my breath always worked. Never took more than 2-3 tries.

I remember I used to hiccup while yawning every once in a while in high school. You make a really LOUD involuntary noise like a rabid harbor seal. Sooooo embarrassing when everyone turns around and looks at you. blush

Everytime I get hiccups I'm paranoid they'll never stop.
Holding my breath never works, I just hiccup anyway and it really really hurts and generally makes it extra loud and embarrassing.
I'm with the drinking water upside down people, it really works.
