My cool old lunchbox

I was at my parents' house for the weekend and, while rummaging in the basement, what should I find but my super fucking cool Gremlins lunchbox that I had way back in 1984.....be jealous!





Mint condition too....well, a little dusty, but it still has the original thermos!

(and thankfully, no twenty year old lunch)

Find any sandwiches or anything?

Ding-dongs?

Gizmo drives a pink convertible?

Well that just made me feel old, in that I remember when that movie came out and I was way to old and cool by then to carry such a truly cool lunch box.

I had a Super Mario Bros. lunchbox. It has sadly been lost to the ravages of time.

I use to have one that was smurfs but I don't know what happened to it.

My mom said character lunchboxes rot your brain. I had a Thermos-brand foldy cloth one. I did not rule the school.

That lunchbox is the shit! I had a G.I. Joe luchbox. I still have the thermos but no pics.

You know, the sad thing is the price on them ranges from $5-$20.....I really figured it would be more than that.

I started carrying a yellow dick tracy lunch box in grade 11. It gave me my nickname (uhh ... lunch box ... not big yellow dick).

It's sweet ass.

My mom had a huge fucking vintage lunchbox collection. They were full of dust and spiders, and I never took lunch to school in them. I only had a sandwich bag full of "lumberjack" brand bread (they call it that 'cause it tastes like wood pulp), pounded flat, with butter. Once I tried to take toast to lunch, buttered and everything. I ate it, and it was very soggy and kinda moldy tasting.

Um.

When we moved some hobo came and rifled through them before we moved them from the truck, and we were all like "whatchoo doin, hobo? get outta there, ya bindle stiff! shoo!"

I had a metal Care Bears lunchbox. The thermos still exists in my parents' tupperware cupboard. Didn't look quite like this, but you get the idea:

I had that same Gremlins box.

It didn't survive elementary school though.

Still have it, but without the Thermos.

This is the one I found a couple years ago. I can't find the thermos, though. I think I tossed it 'cause it had some old mildew in the bottom.

Just be thankfull you didn't leave anything in the thermos, like I did with my fucking awesome Rambo II lunch box. No smell like that should ever exist in this world.

in 3rd grade I had a very cool Bee Gees lunchbox. Had them dancing on the front with all the song titles listed on the side. I was the envy of my school.

I had a yellow garfield one and then upgraded to a red ALF later on.
