Hatebreed singer Jamey Jasta reveals his musical responsibilities, why hate is a good thing and how his music is medicine for the soul.

If you ask someone who is ill-educated in the art of heavy metal what they think it is about, the answer you’ll often get is one of ignorance and loathing. People will invariably bring up themes of extreme violence, an inaudible screaming voice and, for some reason, baby eating.

Any true fan will know that this is way more than 'off the mark'. Metal provides...

Jamey Jasta is one of the strangest dudes I have encountered in the metal scene.
I watch Headbangers ball and he strikes me as so socially awkward and so uncomfortable with his own identity that I have trouble watching the show.
He is one of the oddest characters in metal, I don't think he could hang in a social scene were he wasn't the host and a producer and a lead singer etc, he is such an odd man I don't think he would fit in most groups of people, he strikes me as the oddball geek and I would never want him covering my back , if shit went bad, he gives me a bad vibe.

whoa, i used to be way into hatebreed. under the knife is an amaziing 7". satifaction is the death of desire, was the last i have heard of them....but damn i listened to the hell out of that album and have driven 4 hours to see them. they then entered more of the "metal" world then "hardcore" world and seeing them advertised on wreastling shows definitly worked out for the...course it worked against me. if they advertised for idiots for fans, they got them.

I dunno. I spent time with him. He's just a dude from the hardcore scene. He's probably someone completely different on TV, just like 99% of the people you see.

-i've known jamey since he was about 14 years old and was in hatebreed with him for the first 3 years of the band. to say he couldn't hang in a social scene without being the host or frontman is ridiculous. jamey was always at shows that he wasn't playing or promoting...just hanging out. he was friends with everyone...not a geek at all.
bottom line = he's a good kid

It was a good read..

The thumb joke that was made was great.

But, thanks a lot Jamey for contributing to the horrendously shitty album Agnostic Front just put out. That was a sad day in the world of hardcore when that hit the streets. I blame Jamey. hehe

The predictability of the individuals who pay to view this site is so consistent that it would be difficult to not predict exactly the response prior to any comment being posted. If a comment is against the social norms which are as strict here as any church or civic organization, the immediate response is to jump that person's shit and disparage the commentator. My hypothesis was confirmed again tonight, I decided, I really don't like Jamey Jasta, I really don't like Hatebreed, I think I will note that here, and yet again , the negative comments and the derogatory venom floods the post.
"Hope I get in a fight and Jamey Jasta watches and laughs", I hope I am never in the position where I am isolated with him socially ever again.
We don't all have to think alike folks, I know that is a difficult concept on the alternative website, but it is true, a variety of opinions is human, and tolerance for alternate opinions is a good thing.
And Jamey Jasta blew me , and so I have spent time with him yes. smile

Do you actually like AF? Because Another Voice is fuckin amazing and harkens back to the Liberty and Justice and One Voice era. They are the godfathers of hardcore and in my opinion have never released a shitty album and have never lost a step.

Yes, I adore them.
Those three albums are horrible, though.
I despise metal tinged hardcore like that.
Give me Victim in Pain, United Blood or any of the albums on Epitaph any day over those.
Besides, AF swore up and down tthey would never play that shit again. Guess they changed their minds.

I worked on the photo shoot for all the album art and website content for the album Perserverence and got to hang out with Jamey and the band. He was a very nice guy who, if he had your back, would be a great wingman. We had a good time even though the photographer, Dean Karr, almost set the whole band on fire. Sweet. skull

i sooooo was hoping this was an interview not someone's writing... hatebreed is pretty good in my opinion

I heard that for the filming of one of their videos, they filmed hardcore kids dancing to a Terror song so they had something to actually get pumped to...

well i can still dig the old stuff smile
