From what I hear, he doesn't actually paint the whole thing. He just adds his own flair to it. But he is still damn good.

A lot of "well known" artists in these modern days actually just commission other artists to do their stuff and just add a signature to the end. It's pretty cheese.

He already did the same in the Tate in London a while ago. It remained up for a couple of hours s and was only noticed when it fell down.

Glad to hear he is expanding his horizons to NY. They should feel honoured.

he should go directly to jail. how dare he disrespect art museums in that way? art museums are trusted media filters and museum patrons expect a level of quality in each piece. can you imagine if everyone followed in his footsteps? museums would become filled with art by anybody and everybody.

wait. nevermind. banksy!

I love it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

nothing like a kick in the pants of the art "establishment". They need it...or maybe a light spanking would be in order.

I have hatched some plans to do some similar sculpture placement...i'm more equipped than ever now, completely mobile and self contained...i need a crew...

Wonderful. With the way that museums have cycles of disdain and worship for particular artists (Buren what what), I won't be surprised when the MOMA retrospective rolls around in 23 years.

Fuck Banksy.

How dare he use animals in his show the way he did. He needs to be tied up and spray painted.

Fucking asshole.

They're cows, we eat about a billion of them a day. Ok, maybe you don't (or any of the other vegetarians here), but how is spray painting something on them such an outrage? I agree that just because we eat an animal doesn't mean we have the right to torture and/or treat it inhumanely, but come on...this was in no way animal abuse as it didn't hurt it physically or mentally in any way. Besides, I rather enjoy the fact that my hamburger may have also doubled as a canvas before it died.

Reading this article made my day. Go Banksy! There's something vaguely reminiscent of Basquiat, in his graffiti and his attitude.

The funny thing is that at the Philadelpha Art Museum, and I believe at most museums, the museum cannot throw away any donated artwork without a committee reviewing the decision. In Philly, this means there's been a whole series of wingnuts dropping off their work at the loading dock, and the employees end up putting it on the wall down there to get it out of the way of their work.
