Love the BBC show. Just saw the tail end of one of the NBC episodes. I thought it was pretty funny. Better than most of the shit on regular television.

Season 2 is getting good reviews and brilliant ratings, and has just had 6 more episodes commisioned. Hurrah.

And both episodes of Season 2 were fantastic, I barely remember any copying of British jokes other than the Finchy character.

Sure, it's a mere shadow of teh british The Office, but it's good all the same. The only bad episode was teh shot-for-shot remake in the pilot, that was awful. The new material works much better than the recycling of the old British jokes.

Actually Season 2 is getting great reviews BUT the ratings are bleak. They have a serious drop off from Earl. I believe -26% but don't quote me on the exact #. It's difficut to say what the future of the show is as they only picked up 6, but NBC is on a serious demise and doesn't really have much to put on it's scehdule.

As for Arrested Development... Terrible ratings. Great show. The ratings are down from last year and Kitchen Confidential at 8:30 is doing even worse for them.

Arrested Development and Kitchen Confidential are both pulling in paltry 4 million viewers. Firefly got 4 million viewers before it was cancelled, too.

This kinda implies that there are only 4 million Americans who like good tv.

Yes, and those 4 million Americans need to get their own network, damnit... so our shows stop getting cancelled.

Nah, they'd never allow it.

It would make the intelligent people become more sophisticated and the idiots become more idiotic. Society would collapse.

I know it's not 'cool' to like TV, but TV and I have a torrid love affair. Comments like "fucking AWFUL" should be reserved for shows like "Yes, Dear" and "Joey".

I like TV too. The Office sucked. It sucked more than "Yes, Dear" and "Joey" because it was supposed to be better. I kept trying to stick with it and it kept making me squirm. The jokes were flat, the performances were forced and it wasn't worth a squirt of piss of the BBC version.

I think there are enough differences in the US version of The Office to make it worthwhile viewing even if it can't quite live up to the same standards set by the British version.

That's pretty bad news about Arrested Development - it seems that it's constantly under threat of cancellation because of poor ratings.

OK, I didn't even have any idea who Mike O'Malley was and had to look it up. I see he's on that Yes, Dear show, which I have never seen and assume is a pretty standard stupid sitcom.

Jeez, I didn't expect to be attacked for saying a TV show sucked

My appologies, I don't mean to attack. Taste is subjective. It's just that I work in television and have a lot of valuable brain space wasted with tid bits like who the hell Mike O'Malley is.

I love Steve Carrell, but this show is pretty lame. Not lame as in unfunny, but lame as in everything is replicated scene to scene, just with American accents. The original show is where it's at.

It's not bad, I suppose. I just can't get over how much better the original was. And yes, fuck new Tim. Really the only reason I've watched it is to see Steve Carrel.

Ricky Gervais, who happens to be listed as an "executive producer" of the US version, was on the Daily Show a while back and said that he loved what they had done with it, because its the same premise, but really a different show. I know I think its damned funny and if the guy who created the fucking original thinks its funny...well, hell, what's wrong with that?

Oh, and I don't think anyone who's seen "Stacked" or "The War at Home" would ever consider using the phrase "fucking awful" in the same sentence as "The Office", UK or US version. whatever
