i think he's dropped almost an octave since the old days. i hioe i'll be playing music that far into my life.

I almost had a heart attack when I saw the new Billy Idol CD sitting on the shelf at the record store. I was pleasantly surprised by it.

I still Billy Idol, even since the 80's. I always knew I'd be a little "off" too I guess.

A lot of the early classics will always remain favorites of mine, particularly Dancing With Myself; it'd be fun to hear The Donnas' rendition. And even up to 1990's Charmed Life he was still putting out interesting material like Cradle Of Love (and the wonderfully fun and sexy music video for it). Nevertheless, the new single seems somewhat by-the-numbers in its typical hard rock approach, lacking the vitality and dynamics of much of his previous work. It's funny he mentioned the drummer was in Slash's Snakepit, because as much as I like a band like Velvet Revolver, they can never be half the band that G n' R was or that Stone Temple Pilots were. The same way I think Scott Weiland was a better fit within the more progresive "grunge" sound of STP, I think Billy Idol's music works better with the more progressive "new wave" sound of the post-punk era he helped define. Besides, that retro vibe works for The Strokes- why the fuck is he trying for a heavier rock sound? Anyway, I'm just going by what he said in this interview- perhaps I might find a bit more to like when I hear the album. But in regards to his persona at least, judging from how he came off in this, there isn't anything interesting about his arrogance at all anymore. In fact, it's even kind of pathetic. What's worse- far worse, in fact- is that it just ends up being completely fucking boring.

I saw him back in 1980 or so on a local show called countdown, that guy is such a sweetee.

It was funny because the show had dancers, and because it was Billy Idol the choreographer went full on and had the girls effectively naked in body stockings (without underwear), he nearly had a heart attack when he saw them.

I just think it's awesome he used the word "Chapter" in discussing the SG scene.

It's almost as if SG's taking on a holy-feel.
