Can anyone provide links to proof that neither Steve Ditko or Frank Miller were paid for the Spider-Man and Elektra movies respectively?

they were both credited with creating or co-creating the character in the credits of the mvoies.

i thought it wasn't uncommon at all for people to be credited that never really did anything for the movie or vice versa.
giger never got credited for his alien designs on the sequels.

what do you mean?

They created the characters and the movies were based somewhat on storylines they were involved with

on the original credits for aliens he never got credited, they build on his designs and they even retained his services but they never originally credited him.
he was quite spited because of that.

Why would they get paid for it? Neither character is creator owned, and instead belong to Marvel Comics Publishing Group.

That's the nature of work for hire.

Nothing that really counts as "proof". Marvel pretty much plays it close to the vest with stuff, but I'm pretty sure their standard, work for hire contract transfers all rights, for all mediums, to Marvel Comics. That was part of the impetus for the flood of creator owned imprints.

I would be very, VERY surprised to learn that either Miller or Ditko saw any money at all from those movies. Even Stan Lee sued Marvel (successfully) for a share of the profits they got from movies based on the characters he'd created for them. Marvel is not really a company known for it's unsolicited generosity to it's work-for-hire creators.

Frank Miller still insists that the character Elektra from the movie (and recent comics) can't possibly be his character, because his Elektra died during his run on the book, and Marvel had promised him they wouldn't ressurrect her after he left the book.

Now remember folks, with ten percent profits comes ten percent responsibility.
