I'm lost

this was spurned by them music people in another thread, but I mistook it for visual artists. I think it deserves it's own thread! So here's my list:

Anne Geddes
Thomas Kinkade
William Wegman
Willem de Kooning
Mondrian (well ok some of it is good, but I hate the stuff he's famous for. blah)

Thomas Kinkade

He's the only one that really springs to mind.... I'll admit that he can paint coherently, but his work is unoriginal and horribly boring...

I'm gonna' have to say Warhol . People will probably drag me into the street and stone me to death for that comment . I just think that he had an original idea but ran it into the freakin ground . Ooooooh..lets see what ELSE I can paint different colors . Plus , he was certifiably INSANE .

Also , whoever makes those " Magic Eye ' pictures . I can't get them to work , thusly I HATE them . There's probably more , but I can't think of them right at the moment .

I'm with you on Geddes . ALL babies are cute . Take your diabetes inducing crap and go away . Kinkade . If that's who I'm thinking of then , yes . He's like the Anti-Bob Ross . Wegman . The pictures of your dog were cute at first . Get a new schtick , or a new dog . The other guy I'm not familiar with .

Warhol only sucks for two reasons:

1) Taking an obvious movement in culture and becoming its figurehead without doing anything that I would deem totally rad. The line between art and entertainment and reality has been being more and more muddled for centuries, particularly after the industrial revolution, but if you're going to be the guy to "knock it down" as so many would like to attribute to him, at least do something a little more aesthetically pleasing.

2) Wasting too much film. For the amount of film that guy blew on Empire I could have made 2 really cool movies. I realize the point was to evoke a response from the audience, but still, waste not, want not.

As for my least favorite visual artist, I think Norman Rockwell wins the prize. Ugh, so dull. Almost all expressionistic painting comes in after that, since its pretty bland too.

the thing is though, artists don't really give a rats ass what pleases other people...all the ones i know personally anyway...maybe i just hang with freaks though.

Its a good thing they don't care about pleasing others, coz they sure don't! Bwa ha ha...why can't we have Hieronymous Bosch back? I can't even fathom how sweet it would have been if good ol' H.B. were around these days...
