Ok..

Here's the deal. I'm in school right now and finals week is this week. One of my classes is Public Speaking, and for my last speech I have to give a 7-9 minute persuasive speech.

This is where you guys come in. The reason I'm posting this here isn't because I haven't been able to come up with a topic, but what I'd like to do for the speech is give a persuasive speech on something way outside of the normal topic list, eg: why to / not to eat meat, smoke, etc.

So your assignment is to think of weird / interesting / funny / thought provoking topics for a persuasive speech, and then I'll write a speech on that subject.

Ready? GO!

The only restrictions are that it must be respectful. No speeches on why one race is inferior , etc.

Other than that, everything is fair game.

Is there any ballpark we should stay in? Here are a few off the top of my head:

1) Bbaseball players should use more steroids
2) Eddie Van Halen really wasn't better than C.C. DeVille
3) The 1:05 actually is quite stoppable.
4) The grass really IS greener on the other side.
5) Peanut Butter and Chocolate: A bad idea.
6) Ummmm this may be too personal, but why vasectomies are a socially responsible thing to do? You've already got it thought out and yout have strong feelings about the topic, plus you've heard the counter arguments around here. Again, it's personal so I don't know.

Wait, wait, wait, I do believe it is your assignment to think of weird / interesting / funny / thought provoking topics for a persuasive speech, not ours. How about a persuasive speech on taking responsibility and doing your own work?

I did a paper in my freshman year proving that blue was the best color. Same kind of deal you have going on. I was trying to avoid the normal shit (abortion, smokers rights, etc...) It wasn't that hard really.

-It covers nearly 3/4 of the earth
-It's used as an emotional conveyance (feeling blue) that gave way to a form of music which eventually led to rock and roll
-Ingrained forever in fashion with the advent of the blue jean
-Seen, quite literally, above all other colors (the sky...)

Just a few points I made.

Professor was impressed and I actually received an A

Thesis: that introducing foreign species into a biosystem has a net positive effect.

Examples: jackrabbits in Australia. Milfoil in North American lakes. Carp in the Great Lakes. Starlings just about everywhere in North America. They all produce change... and change is good, right? "Max Flex" as we used to say in the army...

Thesis: that necrophilia, bestiality, and pedophilia are all wrong for the same basic reason: violations of "full, free, and informed consent".

Examples: well... that might be asking a bit much... wink

You did ask for "weird"...

I ♥ ugly boys. Or at least most people seem to think the boys I like are ugly. Same thing.

I like the vasectomy ides for a topic. Especially if you already have some thoughts on that subject.
