Comic nerds will know that Sin City is a stark black and white graphic novel (thats nerdy comic book to you!), by Frank Miller... apparently it's got Tarrentino's name tacked on there somewhere, so that's either good or bad...

Frank Miller was always bandied about when talking about the Next batman, as in this batman sucks, but the next one is going to be more like The Dark Knight...

I just found out about this, so I'm going to hit submit and ask for forgiveness later if somone has already mentioned this.

He's kinda neither here nor there on this one, though, because the movie is literally taken straight from the comics. By which I mean there was no script or storyboarding done; they used the comics. So you shouldn't even notice his direction particularly. Well, in theory. (For the record, I liked Spy Kids, but that's about it.)

I'm kinda mixed on it, myself. Sin City was a bit humorless for me. I figure when you're that noirish and B-movie, you should give some indication your tongue is in your cheek. But that's just me and my stupid little rule. Visually, I think it's very good, although I've never been wild about the way Frank Miller draws women. Anyway, the movie has been basically the same sort of thing for me in previews. Visually awesome and a bit mixed otherwise.

Saw the trailer for it and it didn't put me off. I just hope he hasn't watered it down. Clive Owen gets everywhere.

I hope that Frank Miller's Batman movie is like DK2. That was the best storyline/artstic rendering of the Batman line EVAR

[/JOKE]

I actually can't wait to see it. It look pretty damn good and if they stay with the comics as the storyboarding, then it shouldn't be that bad... and probably the most faithful jump from comic to movie in a long time.

I know nothing about any of the original comics for any of these movies, but that probably makes me like them better because I'm not overly critical of them. It's really kind of silly to me how everyone pre-judges these movies saying their gonna suck based on who the director is and how he won't capture the true story of the comic book or how they changed the main characters hair color or changed the name of the gang the bad guy was in or whatever. Blah blah blah... pay your $7.50 and watch the fuckin movie because you know you want to see it.

sorry... enough ranting... Sin City looks cool though. At least the cinematography looks different than any other movie I've ever seen.

Well, for those of you who aren't doing mad, hatey cartwheels over Robert Rodriguez and Sin City, here's a sexy new trailer for you. I'm fuckin' excited, but then, I'm a sucker for this kind of electric pulp nonsense. I'm gonna have fun with this one.

I know that, I was being self efacing and sarcastic at the same time. Two of my primary character traits.

when it comes to this move, i feel like i'm taking crazy pills. the visuals look really hammy and the dialogue sounds just moronic spoken aloud.

i love miller & sin city. but this movie looks really bad. i know most folks are totally stoked - but i look at it, and i see "battlefield earth"

i really hope that the movie is going to be as awesome as it is in my head. but that's tough, because things are always super cool in my mind.

but it's got a really great cast, a great look, a talented director (and "co-director" QT), and obviously some excellent source material.

here's hopin'...

Wait... Sim City's gonna be a movie?

That stupid joke out of the way, I'm kinda looking forward to it. I like Robert Rodriguez's work, but I think Frank Miller is kinda campy and over the top. Sometimes he can do really good work (his "Born Again" story arc in Daredevil is one of my favorite stories ever), but more often than not, I read his stuff (or watch Robocop 2) and go "meh."

But, yeah, Jessica Alba's hot. That's got my ticket money lined up already.
