ahem, i've been trying to develop a universe/storyline for my most recent project. it's a comic featuring the cold black regions of space, a group of newbies, and a ship powered by a corpse... i am having a hard time writing a strong storyline and i was wondering if any of you writers would like to help out... it's my first crack at Sci Fi comicing... i need all the help i can get.

Creating alien races is always fun, as no one can really tell you that you're wrong, and the more elaborate you make the species and it's culture and customs, the more easy they are to write about smile

If you're going to have robots or AI of any kind, you should read stories by Isaac Asimov. He has all kind of good ideas for ways that robots behave that are different from humans but still completely logical and consistent.

Also, alien races make more sense if they are way different from humans, like giant amoebas or colonies of hive-minded insects or something. I mean the idea of life evolving on two planets at once is plausible but that the two races would look the exact same except for pointy ears and different-colored skin is just silly.

Of course similar-looking races are a possibility if the human and aliens were both "seeded" on hospitable planets. For example billions of years ago a master race came along and planted basically the same type of one-day intelligent creature on different planets just with minor differences. They could even interbreed then wink plus master races are always cool, espeicallyif they're higher-dimensional.
