Now that we are all adults, at least by legal definition, how much of a role do your parents play in your life? I still feel as if I have to please them to a certain degree. Maybe it is my love for them but I still want them to be proud of me. How do you guys feel about the role your parents play in your life. Do you find they play less of a role each year older you get?

I kind of take care of my parents. They are getting there second divorce. They have three more kids, 11, 3, and 2. My mom is a hypochondriac, my step dad has a phd in philosophy, yet he shoplifts and is racist.
I love them, but they really make me sad.

my folks didn't particularly care what i did. My old man would circle the globe and my mum would go to work at a hospital or whereever it was that she worked. Life was like the PEANUTS. Wah, wah, wah, said the older folk. My dad's best advice when i was 10 and playing nintendo in the basement was, "if you're going to drink, make sure you stay in the basement so you don't fall down the stairs."
"Sure thing dad."
The only drawback to this was there was never any cause for rebelllion. I was always a good lad and still am. wink

As far as today, they send me "care packages" of food on occasion because they think I don't eat.
