my spur-of-the-moment-recipe!

8 oz of water
1-1/2 tbsp cocao powder (I used some fancy pants dutch kind)
1/4 tsp maple syrup
1/4 tsp cinnamon
dash of salt
dash of pepper

mmm mmm! I like it bittersweet! How do you like your chocolate?

mine comes in individual dorm-friendly, just-add-water packets.
it's not the greatest, but it goes well with a cigarette on a cold san francisco night.

did you know that chocolate was originally only consumed in liquid form? kinda like coffee, and made with water. That was until people figured out how to solidify it, using milk products. People got so used to having milk in their chocolate, that it was soon accepted that all chocolate could have milk in it, including liquid form. Thus now it's expected that dairy be included in chocolate. But it really doesn't have to be. The Aztecs used cocoa as a spice to liven up things like vegetables. A very versatile bean those cocoa beans are. Does anybody know the difference between cacao and cocoa? is it just a spelling difference?

Cocoa has to be with milk for me, no sugar.

I'm addicted to Green & Blacks pure cocoa. It's organic and fair trade too.

Actually cocoa contains something that is chemically very similar to heroin. That's why chocolate makes us so happy on rainy days.
