If you'd like a little trade secret; you're able to keep the movie two (2) extra days. After that, your credit card gets charged the full price of the movie. If you return it within thirty (30) days they will reimburse you, minus a "reshelving fee". Oops sorry about that-didn't mean to trick anyone. Of course this policy has resulted in loss of inventory because people think they can just keep the movies forever and several lawsuits from people who felt they were tricked or victims of false advertisement. Participating locations (which is about 40% of all Blockbusters) only. Again, oops sorry.
Now if you'll excuse me, I have a store meeting to go to.

Thats not how it works where I live.... I made a point to ask exactly what the deal was and if you don't return it within 2 weeks you get charged.

And I've had movies more then 2 days over several times now and haven't been charged anything.

Where I live, you rent for a week. Affter 2 days of being late they call. After 2 weeks it gets charged to your account. You have 30 days to bring it back and you can pay a 1.25 restocking fee.

I hate it. I tried to rent True Romance the other day and they only had one copy that had been out for about 3 weeks.

I think i'm going to go the lazy route (since i can walk to the blockbuster) and do the online ordering thing.

I just got back from my store meeting and we were told that corporate BB isn't even bothering anymore with the No Late Fee thing and are pulling advertisements. They (corporate stores) are pushing more towards online in order to compete with Netflix. Oh and the acquisition of Hollywood is NOT going well. They are not interested in all at having BB buy them out. I've said too much. I'm such a backstabbing whistle blower.

I loooove Netflix! It is the best thing ever, because we could never seem to return our movies to Blockbuster on time, and we would go there to get another movie, and they would say, "You have a nine million dollar late fee."

Thanks for the clarification on their new "no late fee" policy, I was thinking about trying them again, but I guess it's not such a good idea.

Netflix is an online video store. You go to the website, and make a list of the movies that you want to see. You pay a monthly fee, and they send the movies to you in the mail. You can keep them as long as you want, then you just send them back. I get three movies at a time, but there are differnt plans. It is fantastic.

I wonder though. There must be some fine print someone that you can read? Maybe posted at the center of the Galaxy? Did anyone read the fine print before keeping the movies for too long?

Oh well. I love NetFlix.

Not to shift the topic here, but I wonder if those of you who use Netflix could answer a concern of mine. Out of the last 10 movies I have rented at Blockbuster, 7 were so scratched, dirty and globbed upon that they wouldn't play properly (usually about 10 minutes before the climax)

I am thinking of trying Netlix, but I worry that I'll encounter the same problem. At least with Blockbuster I can (angrily) go back to the store and get a replacement. Have any of you had this problem yet? If not, is it just a matter of time before the discs get all sticky with goo? Why, oh why can't people keep their damn hands off the good parts of the discs?

Thank you

Yeah, I haven't had a problem with Netflix yet. I sent back a move and it got lost in the mail. I filled out the lost movie form and that was that. No charges or nothing.

Netflix is better in my opinion mainly due the huge selection for the price. I even kept a movie for 3 weeks and Netflix never asked where the movie was.

Yes, you'll encounter this too, but not as bad. They tend to buff and clean the discs before sending. I've had a few that were scratched, but never had one with goo or fingerprints on it.

If it's really bad, just return it for a replacement. Make take a few days, but what if Blockbuster was out of that title? You'd still have to wait.

Weird ... either the dude I talked to at the location near me had no fucking clue what he was talking about ... or each location does it differently.

He told me that you could keep it up to 30 days, at which time the full cost of the movie/game would be added to your credit card, MINUS the initial renting fee.

*shrugs* Hence why I loathe Blockbuster.

True that. They usually manage to find a replacement, but once they couldn't and just gave me a free rental instead. They must get it all the time because they don't even question it anymore. I guess I was just wondering what Netflix's protocol was. Thanks for the info.

Thank you
