I have them too. nothing to worry about unless you start getting a lot of them. Then it might be a warning sign of a detacted retina. Here's some info on it.

Try pressing real hard on your eyeballs. That'll make them go away.

I hate floaters, especially when someone else needs to get in there. It's so embarassing flushing the toilet 10 times while somone else is banging on the bathroom door. I use catch them with toilet paper and tuck them in the garbage can underneath everthing else. A couple of times the garbage can was empty and there was no where to hide them, so I had to stick them in my pocket. It was pretty gross. Now I've learned that there is a trick to it. You have to cover the floaters with a few sheets of tiolet paper, so when you flush the wet toilet paper weighs them down. That's something people should be taught when they are kids, it would save so much embassment.

I really don't understand how pushing on my eyeballs would make them go away. Maybe I missed some other trick, I guess I will go read the thread.

Floater are real...the are very small single celled organisms that live on the eye ball....

i was pretty sure that they werent alive, just dead cells floating around in eyeball soup. But i went and looked it up in wikipedia it didint mention alive-ness, but more importantly, I found this amazing scientific fact:
" One should bear in mind also that floaters can become less annoying if the sufferer becomes accustomed to them,"

yaaay for medicine!
so on second thought, ill not beleive everything i read, they are definetly alive.

now my question:

sometimes, when i'm lying in bed, as i'm trying to fall asleep, i'll get this "thing." ... its like a quick electronic pulse in my head. it sounds like an electronic surge/shock.

anybody else get this and what the hell is it?

i NEVER hear anybody talk about it.

Okay, I get this all the time and it freaks me out. I thought I was just going crazy. Now I know that you are as well.

I used to get that alot, but it went away by itself. It was kinda like a ZZZZAP! ..almost even made that sound.and totally would startle me..it was kinda scary ooo aaa

YAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY!

I thought I was the only one that saw those. No one else I know claims to be able to see them.

That makes me feel so much better about my crappy eyesight.

Strangely enough, I see these things: floating in my field of vision all the time.

It's rather creepy and quite annoying.

I believe that is a sign of watching too many Japanese cartoons.

Yeah. I have one, I've tried to draw it, but when i try to, i just can't seem to get it right.

Sometimes (mainly when i was younger) I would make it look like i was bouncing it off of one hand to the other. I bet i looked a little crazy to anyone watching.

Give it a try.

So does anyone ever see these little wormy "microbes", or dust particles, or whatever they are, floating accross your feild of vision, like there on your eyeball? I know this sounds a little crazy, but i see them, and my friends won't believe me.

Actually what your seeing are called "floaters"---they are clumps of protein in the vitreous(the gooey stuff lol) of the eye....they come in all shapes and sizes but they r perfectly harmless so no worries...I have them bad to and they r annoying as hell...hope that reassures you lol biggrin
